Year 1

Welcome Parents and Carers to the Year One page!

Here is essential information you will need for the year.

Our class teachers are Miss King and Ms Moult

The Key Stage Coordinator is Mrs Smith.

For Information about our curriculum please click on these links:

Please find links to our Curriculum in Year 1 including overviews of what we teach each term.

We provide fruit and vegetable snacks for the children every day. The children can bring a snack from home provided it is a fruit or a vegetable.

We also ask that the children bring their own water bottle to school with water only.

Reading books are changed on a Tuesday and Friday, but we ask that the children bring their books each day. The children take home two books; one is phonetically decodable and the other is to read and enjoy with their families.

In a few weeks, all of the Year 1 children will have a phonics screening test. This is a national test to assess how well the children can decode certain words. To do this the children will need to be able to recognise the letters and the sounds that they represent. This is an important part of achieving reading fluency!   After this we will continue with phonics daily as per our timetable but also focus more on comprehension ahead of Year 2.

We have PE twice a week. Please come dressed in your PE kit on Monday and Thursday. For our PE uniform we ask that the children wear a white top and black or grey trousers and in the warmer months, green shorts. We also ask that the children wear black plimsolls or black plain trainers.

We are lucky to have a wonderful forest on our site. This term 1K will attend on Tuesdays and 1C will attend on Fridays.  Please could the children bring their forest school kit in on these days.

Warm wishes

Miss King  and Ms Moult
